Post mortem of deceased Lion air passengers to be conducted today

Colombo (News 1st) - The post mortem examinations of the two deceased foreign nationals who were on board the Lion Air flight which made an emergency landing at the BIA yesterday, are to be conducted today. Director of the Negombo Hospital said that the post mortem examinations would be conducted today if relatives of the deceased arrive in the country. The Indonesian Embassy said further action regarding the two deceased people can only be carried out if the relatives of the individuals arrive in the country. The remains of the two foreign nationals are currently placed at the Negombo Hospital. Two other people who were on board the same flight were transferred from the Negombo Hospital to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Colombo after their health condition deteriorated. When Newsfirst inquired from the Director of the Infectious Diseases Hospital he stated that one person of the two who is aged 70, is currently receiving treatment at the ICU since his condition is critical. The other patient who is 50 years of age is currently receiving treatment in the isolation unit of the Infectious Diseases Hospital. Samples of the patients have been directed to the Medical Research Institute of Sri Lanka. The Director of the Medical Research Institute of Sri Lanka said steps will be taken to ensure that the test results would be handed over to the Infectious Diseases Hospital before noon, today. Further information regarding the disease has still not been revealed.
