COLOMBO (News 1st) – Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the National Transportation Commission to ban the use of loud music and the display of videos inside Private Buses, which cause severe inconvenience to passengers.
National Transport Commission advised passengers to call the NTC Hotline 19 55 to lodge their complaints if private buses play loud music.
Based on public complaints, the NTC will be empowered to take strict action against Bus Drivers and Conductors.
The general public can also file complaints against SLTB or Private Buses which operate in a very lethargic manner or in a reckless manner.
The Ministry of Transport Service Management said a bundle of 1000 standard classical songs will be introduced to all bus operators which they can play during their journeys.
The Ministry said only these songs can be played in buses from January 1st, in a manner which does not inconvenience the general public.
