CAA to enforce MRP of Samba and Nadu rice

Colombo (News 1st) - The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) notes that they will begin conducting raids to arrests shop owners who sell Samba and Nadu rice at a price higher than the maximum retail price imposed by the Government. Director of the CAA, Asela Bandara noted that they will be enlisting the support of the Police for this purpose as well. A gazette notification was issued last night imposing a MRP of Rs 98 on Samba and Nadu rice. Bandara noted that legal action will be initiated against shop owners that violate the MRP.
