Annual Sri Lanka Cricket Awards held in Colombo

Colombo (News 1st): The Annual Sri Lanka Cricket Awards 2018/19 was held in Colombo last night (December 03). A large number of current and former Sri Lankan cricketers were present at the awards ceremony held at Battaramulla. The awards ceremony was filled with many colourful entertainment items. Mickey Arthur, Grant Flower and Shane McDermott, the newly appointed coaching panel of the Sri Lanka cricket team, were also present at the event. Dhananjaya de Silva, who won the Test Batsman of the Year award last year, was adjudged the best Test batsman this year and Dimuth Karunaratne the current test and ODI captain won the Test Batsman of the year award. Dilruwan Perera was adjudged the Best Test bowler of the year. Pathum Nissanka won the Emerging Cricketer of the Year award, Kusal Janith Perera won the best ODI batsman of the year and Lasith Malinga won both the Best ODI bowlers award. Thisara Perera won the Best All-rounder’s award. Isuru Udana was named the Best T20I All-rounder and Thisara Perera also bagged the T20 batsman of the year. It is noteworthy that Lasith Malinga won a hat-trick of best T20 bowler of the year award. Kumar Dharmasena was unanimously named the Best International Umpire of the Year for the 2nd consecutive year. Chamari Atapattu won the Best T20 & ODI batter, Best ODI all-rounder of the Year in women's category, while Oshandi Ranasinghe won the best ODI bowler. Shashikala Siriwardane bagged the women's T20 bowler and the best All-rounder of the year awards. Sri Lanka women’s cricket sensation Chamari Atapattu was named as the Women’s Cricketer of the Year. However, it is noteworthy that the coveted cricketer of the year award was not presented this year.
