COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Front Line Socialist Party stated that proroguing the parliament today was to save UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Pubudu Jagoda, Propaganda Secretary of the Front Line Socialist Party noted that Speaker stated that Ranil Wickremesinghe would be appointed as the party leader and the opposition leader.
He added that when this was announced several MPs requested the Speaker to appoint Sajith Premadasa as the Opposition Leader and today the speaker was scheduled to announce it.
He shared that since the parliament was prorogued the opposition leadership and the party leadership would safely remain in Ranil Wickremesinghe’s hands.
“He does not have to worry about this issue until the 3rd of January and during that period of this power struggle, he can secure his position. According to these series of events that take place, we are bewildered to determine whether it was the SLPP or the UNP who emerged victorious at the Presidential Election” he concluded.
