Colombo (News 1st): The Church of Ceylon has congratulated President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The Church of Ceylon said the victory came at a time when the nation finds itself seemingly lacking in stability, direction, and confidence.
Issuing a release the Church said “The election results demonstrate once again the way in which the country has been and continues to be polarized. We believe that this is one of the most pressing priorities for the new President to understand and to address amidst all the other urgent issues.”
It added, “The peace and stability that the country yearns for, which is so essential for sustainable development and balanced economic growth can only be achieved through such an inclusive approach that respects the dignity and rights of all groups.”
The Church said it remains committed to a corruption-free society that ensures equitable economic growth and justice for all groups, especially to the voiceless and marginalized.
