Police did not conduct a survey on elections

Reports in social media about a Police survey on Presidential elections is false

Colombo (News 1st): Police Headquarters announced that the State Intelligence Service or any arm of Sri Lanka Police did not conduct any form of a survey on the Presidential election. A statement bearing the signature of Police spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekera noted a decision was reached for the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct an inquiry into social media reports over an alleged survey. The statement added, social media reports claiming a Special Report was handed over to the President by the SIS, is false. It adds social media reports suggest the alleged report was handed over to the President on November 5th, 2019. Police HQ stressed, the State Intelligence Service or any arm of Sri Lanka Police did not engage in or interfere with any form of political activity and did not conduct a survey on the Presidential poll. Police HQ emphasized that the Sri Lanka Police is determined to create an environment for a peaceful and free Presidential election.
