Cases filed against 800 for maintaining dengue breeding grounds

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The National Dengue Prevention Unit states that cases have been filed against 800 individuals who maintained areas conducive for the breeding of dengue mosquitoes. Director of the Unit, Specialist Dr. Aruna Jayasekara states that the cases were filed following islandwide raids carried out on the matter last week. He further says that within this period over 60,000 locations were inspected for dengue larvae. Jayasekara says that almost 30% out of the inspected locations were identified as dengue breeding grounds of which 7% also had dengue larvae breeding already. The number of dengue patients identified within this year exceeds 65,000
