233 bags of illegaly excavated shells seized

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Police have seized 233 bags of illegally excavated seashells from Nadatheevu, Kinniya. Our Correspondent said the items were seized following a raid carried out by the Kinniya police together with officials attached to the Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management in Trincomalee. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau also assisted in these efforts. Police said, that these suspects had fled the scene during the raid. However, investigations are currently underway to arrest them.
