COLOMBO (News 1st) – Deputy Election Commissioner, S.P. Jayasinghe stated that 200,000 government employees are expected to be assigned for presidential election duties this November.
He added that they are to be assigned at the polling stations and to count votes. Continuing he said that 48,000, 98000 and 10,000 state employees will be deployed to carry out counting votes, duties at the polling stations and welfare and transport services respectively. In addition, it was reported that at least 8 employees would be assigned at a polling station.
Deputy Election Commissioner further added that the measures are already implemented to assign state employees for election duties.
