COLOMBO (News 1st):- Several MPs spoke about the government that will be formed following the victory of the Presidential candidate of the New Democratic front. Non-Cabinet Minister of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution, Dr Harsha de Silva says:
"Sajith Premadasa is a hero. If he makes a promise, he will make sure he fulfills it. He is a social revolution. I should state that after the 17th of November when he becomes the President, he will appoint a new young team who could work and not steal. We won't take corrupt individuals. People who could work, ones without any corruption or accusations, ones who are educated and qualified would be getting the opportunities from our government. We won't involve anyone in our cabinet who are accused of corruption. We won't be giving the chance to anyone who has document copies from the government. We don't take corrupt individuals at all. Our cabinet won't include any of them."
Journalist: Even Sajith Premadasa has not mentioned a potential Prime Minister. What is happening? To which de Silva responded saying he is given the freedom to choose whomever he wants as the prime minister. However, he will be a young, strong and professional individual who would work and also with no corruption accusations. He will take that strong decision. Meanwhile the Non-Cabinet Minister of Science, Technology & Research, Sujeewa Senasinghe said:
"The UNP cabinet that anyone could remember from '77 was led by J. R. Jayawardane consisted of young individuals named as Gamini, Lalith and Ranjan Wijeratne. For our misfortune, a lot of them were murdered. But when we start this great year, we have a young team including Ajith Perera, Buddika Pathirana, Harsha de Siva, Eran and many more. Just as UNP was a backbone for J. R. Jayawardane, likewise the UNP will stand behind Sajith Premadasa. Young individuals who have a future and could work will be his backbone. The reason to choose Sajith Premadasa as our candidate was to bring out a strong team."
