Colombo (News 1st): Presidential candidate of the New Democratic Front, Sajith Premadasa participated in the Mega Mind intellectual forum, in Weligama last evening (October 24). Civil activists, political representatives, and professionals supporting Sajith Premadasa attended the event.
Speaking at the event Sajith Premadasa made clear that the leaders who govern the country will have to work hard and struggle for the general public. He noted that the duty-free vehicle permit is something very popular among everyone and when the country is facing an economic crisis when the government has a mountain of debt to repay, all 225 MPs of parliament are given duty-free vehicle permits.
Sajith believes that this is wrong and very unfair, therefore, he noted that after the 16th, the President will not obtain a duty-free vehicle permit and will serve as a role model for everyone. He said certain factions might not approve this, however, in order to go forward in a new direction, they will have to take this decision. He added that when recruiting new employees to state ministries, they will recruit the most talented individuals who are capable of leading the country in the future.
He went onto note that from the 16th of next month, they will govern the country in a new way. He said after obtaining a historic victory on the 16th, he will establish a Presidential task force for national development and a branch of that task force will be established in every divisional secretariat.
He once again invited his opponent Gotabaya Rajapaksa for an open debate. He noted that he will come forward alone, but if Gotabaya Rajapaksa is afraid to be isolated, he can have even forty people with him.
“Sajith Premadasa can face anything alone because my backbone and spinal cord are true, I have the backbone of a Premadasa,” said the Presidential Candidate of the NDF Sajith Premadasa.
