Rain to intesify

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Department of Meteorology states that there will be an increase in the expected rainfall in the night tomorrow (October 26). The department states that showers or thundershowers are predicted in certain areas in the Western, North Eastern, Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Meanwhile, due to the incessant rains, many water bodies belonging to the Department of Irrigation have opened the sluice gates. Director of the Water Management Unit of the Meteorology Department, Manjula Samarakoon says that the Ambakola Wewa, Atharagalla Wewa, Madiyawa Wewa, and Thambowa Wewa have been opening its sluice gates. The Deduru Oya, Kimbulwana Oya, the Bathalagoda water source and the Rajanganaya wewa are also opening its sluice gates.
