Colombo (News 1st): The Ceylon Teachers Union has lodged a complaint with the National Election Commission stating, targeting the presidential election, National Schools enrolled students exceeding the number. Ceylon Teachers Union Secretary Joseph Starling said although the usual number should be 35 students per class, the number of students per class is above the approved limit. News1st contacted the Secretary of the Ministry of Education M.M. Ratnayake and he stated the Ministry of Education has not received any complaint regarding the matter. However, the children of teachers who have been teaching in a national school for three years have now been given the opportunity to be enrolled in the same school. The Secretary further stated, under this system, the number of students per class would not be taken into consideration and in such a case, the number of students in a class could increase.
