New intercity express train from Colombo to Badulla

Colombo (News 1st) General Manager of Railways Dilantha Fernando says that a new intercity express train called Denuwara Menike will be operated from Colombo to Badulla before the end of this month. He said that the increase in the arrival of tourists and to increase the efficiency of long-distance train services is the ultimate motive of the initiative. The train is powered by new power kits imported from China. The train will ply from Colombo to Badulla only once a day and will return to Colombo the following day. The train comprises of 8 compartments, 3 of which are luxury compartments.
