COLOMBO (News 1st) – Deputy Leader of the United National Party Minister Sajith Premadasa is due to meet leaders of several minority parties this evening.
Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka responded to questions posed by journalists regarding this matter following an event held in Panadura. He said that the meeting between the party leaders and Minister Sajith Premadasa will be held in Colombo. When questioned whether he has decided to support Sajith Premadasa he responded that they have to discuss more before coming to a decision.
He added that it was necessary to take aspects such as the 5-year trajectory of the country, the parties that would join hands, principals and strategies to win the election, into consideration before coming to the ultimate decision.
Ranawaka further added that everyone was in favour of an alliance and the only reason everyone was concerned about was the presidential candidate. According to the minister, the United National Front and members of the UNP will participate at the discussions.
