COLOMBO (News1st):- It was reported that the UNP leadership will hold a disciplinary inquiry over the conduct of several MPs within the party who support Minister Sajith Premadasa. Journalists questioned Chairman of the party Kabir Hashim in this regard.

He responded that no one has been officially informed of such a disciplinary inquiry within the party but that he heard this through media. He further said that if someone has taken a decision detrimental to the party and its supporters that he is ready to hold whatever the inquiry.

When he was questioned on who the Presidential candidate would be, Kabir Hashim said that with such questions that there is a possibility of holding an inquiry because the voices of those at the ground level should be heard and highlighted. He says that it is quite clear that the people want Sajith Premadasa and that this was discussed at group meetings as well.

He further said that four names including the name of Sarath Fonseka have been proposed for the candidate. However, he added that the final decision will be based on what people want.
