National Convention of SLPP set for tomorrow

Colombo (News 1st): The National Convention of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will be held tomorrow (August 11) afternoon at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. A media briefing regarding this was held at the party office today (August 10).

Speaking at the media briefing UPFA MP Arundika Fernando noted that he believes that tomorrow Mahinda Rajapaksa, will present Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the presidential candidate. He believes that it is a tremendous victory.

UPFA MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena noted that their first priority tomorrow is to handover the leadership of the SLPP to Mahinda Rajapaksa. He noted that Rajapaksa will then present the candidate named by the party as the presidential candidate.

Speaking about the UNP candidacy he added that there is a list of candidates from the alliance which is to be formed led by the UNP. He noted that if it’s so hard to select a candidate the best option is to have a game of musical chairs at Sirikotha to select a candidate.
