We expect a leadership which is not controlled by international forces: Ven. Medagoda Abhayathissa Thero

Colombo (News 1st): A new organization named National Wiyath Pavura under the patronage of Venerable Professor Medagoda Abhayathissa Thero was inaugurated today (August 8). Journalists questioned the Thero if he expects the political party he supports in the upcoming elections, to cancel agreements (SOFA, etc.) reached by the current government. Responding to this  Abhayatissa Thero noted that they expect a national leadership which cannot be controlled by international forces. Taking an example, he questioned if the MCC agreement was signed by the government, can the public let Sri Lanka be divided into two? He said there are MPs and Ministers who nurtured extremism and who became unpopular among the people. They shouldn't be appointed to future leadership positions. The Thero added that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has not named their candidate yet, but some speak about Gotabaya Rajapaksa and even if Podujana Peramuna presents a candidate with these qualities, they will support him and if they do not present the kind of leader they expect, they are ready to look for alternatives.
