Nine arrested for smuggling gold from Bangkok

Colombo (News 1st): Nine Sri Lankans have been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department unit at the Katunayake Airport for smuggling gold worth over Rs. 30 million. Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that the gold weighs over 4 kilograms. The suspects who came in from Bangkok brought the gold in the form of chains. He further stated that the suspects are to be handed over to the Customs for further investigations.
