Around 40 houses damaged due to strong winds

Colombo (News 1st): Around 40 houses have been damaged in Kabithigollawa, Kanugahawewa and Thalgahawewa due to strong winds. Assistant Director of the Anuradhapura district Disaster Management Center Deshapriya Bandara noted that the damages were caused by gale force winds that swept through the area last afternoon (July 11). He added that the DMC would begin assessing the damage caused by the strong winds today. The electricity supply to a number of the affected areas was also disrupted, as a result of trees falling onto power lines. He noted that the power has been restored and the trees will be removed.
