COLOMBO (News 1st) - Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Front Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thero filed a petition at the Supreme Court today against the Lands Special Provisions bill claiming that it violates the constitution. The Thero noted that a similar bill was brought by the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe in 2003, to sell Sri Lankan lands to foreigners. The Thero added that back then the Supreme Court ruled that the bill violates fundamental rights of the people. The Thero went on to note that the prime minister and the rest of his gang are back at it even after 16 years. Finally, he added that the bill is already added to the parliament agenda.
