Colombo (News 1st): Speaking at an event to declare open a hospital ward at the Manampitiya rural ayurvedic hospital, President Maithripala Sirisena said there are more irregularities than benefits to the people when purchasing medicine and modern equipment in the western medical field.

Addressing the gathering the President said that the local ayurvedic and indigenous medicine systems are of high value.

The head of state pointed out that the value of the indigenous medicine system in Sri Lanka has not been compromised despite the progress made by western medicine.
