MP Weerawansa said that it is however unclear of the purpose for which it was built. He also said that although the people in Batticaloa were asked to remain in these buildings that it is quite questionable the disaster that could strike Batticaloa alone and not the entire country. Meanwhile the Leader of the National Congress A. L. A. M. Athaullah said that he left the Muslim Congress and established this new party because of the prevailing issue of the US influence. He further said that the war that was prevailing in the country for a long period of time was about the party that would capture the Trincomalee harbour, Hambantota port or the Colombo Port, but now after Ranil Wickremesinghe's government of four years that they still experience bombings. He added that they are well aware of the stories on extremism and Zahran and stated that it is quite clear that these parties are being controlled to get what they want. Meanwhile the leader of the National Democratic Front, Vasudeva Nanayakkara said that there is an article which needs to be included in the constitution which is that parliamentary approval should be obtained before the government reaches an agreement with another country or its representatives. He further said that the amendment that they are looking forward to bring in should have this reverse impact included. Nanayakkara also said that he is aware of Sajith Premadasa coming forward as the UNP Presidential candidate and requested him to communicate his stance on the agreements publicly. Responding to a question posed by a journalist, Nanayakkara said that a candidate who agrees with these agreements will not be presented by their party. He continued to say that the tension that was created by the Muslims and the Sinhalese was not something made by them. Also speaking about a recent newspaper article MP Weerawansa said that no article inciting tensions were published in a newspaper, because if it was so that they would have taken legal action against it. He added that there is but a post circulating among the Muslims on social media. To this allegation, Athuallah said that their community denies what's posted on Facebook and added that they have to work closely in the same manner. MP Vasudeva also said that just like the people of the country expect the President to intervene and stop the signing of the agreement that it was done so. Athuallah added that if an election is held that all these problems would find a solution.
