Colombo (News 1st): The facility to transport goods by train which was temporarily suspended in the aftermath of the April attacks, will resume tomorrow (June 1).
The Railways Department said the decision to suspend cargo services was taken after considering the heightened security measures which were enforced across the country.
Accordingly, all goods need to be packed in the presence of the Station Master one hour ahead of the scheduled departure time of the respective train.
During the period of suspension of this service, the Railways Department incurred a loss of Rs. 15 Million.
