Ambulance donated to rural hospital in Ambalantota

Colombo (News 1st): An ambulance was donated yesterday (May 27) to the rural hospital in Barumagame, Ambalantota, under the auspices of the deputy leader of the United National Party Minister Sajith Premadasa. The donation was made under the project to provide ambulances to rural hospitals in the Hambantota district, under the Samata Sahana National program. Equipped with the latest faculties, the value of the ambulance is estimated at Rs. 9.2 million. Several local political representatives attended the event. Speaking at the event Minister Premadasa noted that they are initiating massive changes in the health sector, with the aim of generating benefit to the people. He noted that there is a drug mafia in operation, however, they do not have such associations or any involvement in such drug mafias. The minister went onto question that if the present government was able to reduce the price of medicinal drugs, why weren't prices reduced five years ago? He noted that their aim is not to strengthen the health of their leaders, but to improve the health and lifestyle of the general public.
