Arrested parliamentary staffer brought to parliament for further investigations

Colombo (News 1st): The parliamentary staffer who was arrested for his alleged involvement with the National Thawheed Jamath was brought to the parliamentary complex for further investigations. Parliamentary Sergeant-at-Arms Narendra Fernando said that the suspect was brought to the parliamentary complex by officers of the Criminal Investigations Department. He added that investigations were conducted on the equipment used by the suspect and the duties he performed. The Ministry of Defence previously granted permission to the Police to detain and question the arrested parliamentary staffer for a period of three months. The arrested suspect, a 45-year-old Muslim residing in Kandy was serving as a senior indexing officer attached to the Hansard Department of Parliament.
