"We can now assure the security of the country" - President

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The "Ranawiru Uththama Pranama" ceremony to commemorate the injured and fallen war heroes was held this evening (May 19) under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. The event was held at the National War Memorial at the Parliament grounds. This was held to extend gratitude, to all the war heroes and their families who dedicated lives to win back peace to the nation from the LTTE terrorists. Religious observances and a minute of silence was held to commemorate the fallen war heroes. President Maithripala Sirisena speaking at the event said that all the officials and experts who ensure the national security have a responsibility to make use of their experience of 30 years to face something completely different from the war which is the international terrorist organizations. The President also confided in the military and the intelligence units of the country to have the complete strength to wipe out this international terrorist organization from the country. He further added that they could now ensure the security of the country because they have arrested all the suspects connected to the incidents that transpired on the 21st of April while some others had died during the shoot outs with the police. Thereafter floral tributes were offered to the National War Memorial by the President, Prime Minister, Leader of the opposition, Speaker and families of the soldiers.
