250 remanded over recent incidents of unrest

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Prisons states that over 250 people are currently remanded over the incidents that transpired on and after April 21st. Commissioner General of the Prisons T.M.J.W. Thennakoon noted that 84 people have been taken into custody over incidents that took place in the Nort-Western province and Minuwangoda. Inmates of all prisons have been provided with the facility of meeting their relatives from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm today (May 19) in line with the Vesak Poya. The relatives of those inmates coming today (May 19) are also allowed to bring food to the prison.
