Easter Sunday Attacks: 10 more suspects arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st): 10 more suspects have been arrested between last night and this morning in connection to the Easter Sunday bomb attacks that killed over 310 people and injured over 480. This brings the total Island-wide arrest count to 40 in relation to the incident. All suspects are currently in CID custody. The arrests were made by the Police force including members of;
  • Criminal Investigation Department
  • Colombo Crimes Division
  • Special Task Force
Last Tuesday morning (April 22), the arrest count stood at 24. However, six more were arrested during the day, one of them being a Syrian national from Templers Road, Mount Lavinia. Another person who was apprehended in Kandana yesterday had communication devices in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Key emergency regulations in effect The government has gazetted the Laws on the Prevention of Terrorism under Emergency Regulations at midnight yesterday (April 22). The step was taken to give authority to the Police and the three armed forces in order to ensure the safety of the people of Sri Lanka.
