Ten die early this morning in accident on Mahiyangana-Badulla road

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A tragic accident on Mahiyangana-Badulla main route has resulted in ten deaths. A private bus headed to Diyatalawa from Trincomalee collided head on to a van that was travelling in the opposite direction to Mahiyangana killing ten passengers including three children in the van. The accident was reported at around 1.30 am. The police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that there had been 12 passengers in the van at the time of the accident and all of them had sustained severe injuries. He added that although all of them were admitted to the Mahiyangana Hospital only two had survived.
