Colombo (News 1st): State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne led the Sri Lankan delegation at the IMF Spring Meetings, which recently concluded in Washington.
The State Minister held discussions with several high ranking officials during his visit.
The State Minister was accompanied by the Governor of the Central Bank Dr Indrajit Coomaraswamy and Secretary to the Treasury Dr R.H.S. Samaratunga, among others.
Wickramaratne and delegation held wide-ranging talks with a number of high ranking IMF and World Bank officials on fiscal and financial sector reforms, project financing and sustainable economic growth and stability.
Project agreements were also signed with the World Bank for Public-Private Partnership Framework Development and Climate Smart Irrigated Agriculture.
Wickramaratne also took part in closed-door discussions at the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC on Sri Lanka – US relations and the prospect for promoting peace, security and trade in South Asia.
