New Year does not put a halt to the crimes across the country

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Despite peace and harmony being promoted in the New Year season, unfortunately, several crimes were reported from across the island. Kamburupitiya A house was set ablaze and acid was thrown at its occupants following a brawl between two groups early this morning (April 15). Nine individuals including two women were rushed to the hospital with burn injuries following the acid attack. Police investigations are underway. Hungama An individual was killed and two others were seriously injured following a dispute between two groups last night. Police stated that the brawl was the result of a long-standing dispute between two factions. Police arrested four people in connection to the incident. Nochchiyagama A man was clubbed to death following a dispute in Nochchiyagama. A man was arrested by the Nochchiyagama police over the murder.
