COLOMBO (News 1st) - MPs representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna state that issues in continuing discussions on the alliance between the SLFP and SLPP is the reason for SLFP MPs abstention from the budget vote. UPFA MP Shehan Semasinghe contemplating on the matter noted that a group of Sri Lanka Freedom Party MPs had already decided to join the United National Party. He said that they are simply waiting for the right time to switch sides, which is the next election. He added that it was unfortunate that SLFP is undergoing a crisis due to the conduct of a few MPs who are blinded by the UNP. The MP also noted that the SLFP's conduct at the budget vote will be a decisive fact in the discussions between SLFP and SLPP to form an alliance. He went on to say that it was necessary to determine whether the SLFP is against the UNP or are they in line with UNP in order for discussions to progress. UPFA MP, Ranjith de Zoysa noted that he personally believes there is no necessity to form an alliance with SLFP again. He said that all SLFP does is deceive everyone. He noted that although SLFP claims that they want to defeat Ranil Wickremesinghe, they won't when the opportunity arises.
