Colombo (News 1st): It was a historic day for Havelock Sports Club as they clinched the prestigious Clifford Cup Knockout Rugby Championship defeating Air Force 40 points to 21 at the Colombo Racecourse.
Havies dominated the game right from the kickoff and scored 3 goals to Air Force’s 2 goals and went into half time with a healthy 21-14 lead.
Continuing the momentum from the first half the Havies scored another 19 points in the 2nd half with Air Force replying with a 7 pointer.
At the final whistle, it was 40 points to 21 and the Park club clinched the knockout trophy after a lapse of 38 long years.
