3.55 magnitude tremor reported from Badulla

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A tremor with a magnitude of 3.55 was reported from several areas in the Badulla District this morning (March 16). The tremor was reported from Badulla, Passara, Hali Ela, Welimada, and Kandeketiya. Deputy Director of the Badulla District Disaster Management Unit, E.M.L Udayakumara noted that the tremor occurred between 8.15 am and 8.20 am today (March 16). Locals state that the tremor only lasted for a brief timing of two to three seconds. No casualties and property damage have been reported thus far. The Disaster Management Center and Geological Survey and Mines Bureau have commenced inquiries into the incident. The tremor was recorded at the Pallekele, Hakmana and Mahakanadarawa monitoring centers.
