Two arrested for vehicle trading using forged certificates

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people have been arrested in Kadawatha for forging fake identities and documents to sell vehicles. The duo was arrested in a raid conducted by the Peliyagoda Special Criminal Investigation Unit. The police said that the suspects had engaged in this business by forging chassis numbers of vehicles. A van, a forged registration certificate, three fake identities, two forged drivers licenses and a vehicle that was mortgaged using forged certificates were seized by the police during the raid. The arrested suspects aged 34 and 37 have been identified as residents of Urapola and Kirindiwela.
