Plans to explore mineral resources Mannar basin

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Petroleum Resources development Secretariat says that tenders have been called for the exploration of mineral resources in the Mannar basin. Director-General Vajira Dassanayake said that two natural gas deposits have been identified in the area. He noted that the data analysis related to the exploration of mineral resources in the Lanka basin is to be done in April(2019). Director General of the petroleum resources development secretariat added that the cabinet approval was granted to call for tenders for exploration of mineral resources in shallow seas.
