COLOMBO(News 1st) - A woman has lodged a complaint at the Maradana police station stating that her mother died as a result of a drug overdose prescribed by a doctor at Colombo National Hospital.
The deceased is a 62-year-old mother of five from Galkada, Bandaragama. The plaintiff, a daughter of the deceased noted that her mother had been a patient of the neurostimulation clinic of the Colombo National Hospital for the past six years.
She said that last week her mother's prescribed regular dosage was increased by the doctor and it worsened her mother's condition ultimately resulting in death.
When inquired an officer of the Maradana Police station noted that they are carrying out further investigations. Meanwhile, Director of the Colombo National Hospital, Kumara Wickramasinghe noted that he was not aware of such an allegation, adding that he would take the necessary steps if anyone is found to have committed a wrong.
