ICU of Balangoda base hospital shut down

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Intensive care unit of the Balangoda base hospital has been shut down due to the lack of doctors. Medical Superintendent of the hospital, D. M. C. Dissanayake said that although nine doctors are on duty, three of them are currently on leave. He noted that the functions of the ICU and theater cannot be carried out with just 6 doctors. Patients are instead being transferred to the Ratnapura hospital.
