Thissa Attanayake, a presidential candidate?

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake says that he is ready to step up and take the mantle of the common candidate if he is asked to do so. Responding to a question by a journalist on wether he would accept a common candidacy role, Attanayake stated that there are many names, such as Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maithripala Sirisena and Sajith Premadasa floating around for the position of Presidential candidate. He believes that similar to the 2015 Presidential election, a candidate will be named just prior to the Presidential election being announced and that he/she would galvanise the masses.
