Former cricketer Mithra Wettamuny passes away

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Sri Lankan Cricketer Mithra Wettamuny passed away at around 11.00 am this morning (January 20). He is the brother of former Sri Lankan Cricketers Sidath Wettamuny and Sunil Wettamuny. Mithra Wettamuny was born on the 11th of July 1951. He played his debut international test representing Sri Lanka in 1983. He was also the captain of the Sri Lankan Cricket team which defeated India for the first time, in an international test match. Wettamuny was 67 years old at the time of his demise at his residence in Colombo.
