Calls for investigation into clandestine investors meeting

Colombo (News 1st) -Civil society organizations are calling for an immediate investigation into the unauthorized departure of a private jet from Trincomalee yesterday. on 3rd of January, a private jet carrying investors from China, Singapore, and Hong Kong lands at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. The group of investors uses the same jet to travel to Trincomalee with the assistance of the former Governor of the Eastern Province, Rohitha Bogollagama. The investors held talks with the former Governor in Trincomalee and subsequently left the country from Trincomalee. Who was it that authorized a private jet to leave the country from an unauthorized port in violation of civil aviation laws and immigration and emigration regulations? What did these mysterious investors discuss with the former Governor of the Eastern Province? Governor of Eastern Province M.L.A.M. Hizbullah stated that as far as he is aware the group arrived in a private jet and they said they were authorized to take off from the China Bay airport but such authorization had not been granted to them. He further stated that there might be some shortcomings and that he will rectify these issued as soon as possible through legal means. Convener of the Left Centre Chameera Perera stated that throughout the recent past there has been a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the Singapore Trade Agreement and that against this backdrop that a group of Singaporean investors landed in Colombo, went to the airstrip in Trincomalee and held discussions with former Governor Rohitha Bogollagama and his son. He noted that they have grave suspicious regarding this incident and questioned why these investors came to Sri Lanka. He also stated that this raises grave concerns regarding national security. In addition, he stated that they want to know why these investors were here for and what they discussed. He stated that they will call on the government to immediately carry out an investigation into this. If certain persons are involved in this, whether they are former governors or politically powerful persons, legal steps must be taken immediately.
