STF shootout: Two criminals killed

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two members connected to organised crime were killed last night (November 27) in a shootout with the Police special task force. Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said the victims have been identified as "Habarakada Wasantha" and "Meegoda Upul" The shootout had occurred when officials of the STF had travelled to the location based on a tip-off. The criminals succumbed to their injuries upon admission to the Homagama hospital. Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara added that Habarakada Wasantha was the main suspect in a robbery that had taken place at a jewellery store in Matara.
