COLOMBO (News 1st) – The UNP has challenged the ruling party to bring forward a proposal to claim their majority in parliament next week.

UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella said that they had given two chances for MR to claim a majority in parliament and that he had dismissed both of his chances.

He continued to say that if MR has any self-respect he should claim his majority in parliament, Kiriella challenged the Rajapaksa team to bring forward a proposal to claim a majority in parliament and that then they will be ready to face a vote without any interference.

Upon an inquiry by a journalist, if Sajith Premadasa had received an invitation last evening to accept the position of Prime Minister, he said that the matter should be directed to Premadasa.

Kiriella continued to say that they are not afraid to face an election and that they are prepared but also added that they are not prepared to contest the elections under the administration of an illegal government.
