STF cracksdown on underworld: 60 criminals arrested in 2018

COLOMBO (News 1st) - During the course of the year, 60 criminals linked to organized crimes were arrested in raids carried out by the Police Special Task Force in the Western and Southern provinces. Most of them were arrested in the Western Province. 45 of these criminals were arrested in 30 operations carried out in the Western Province, while 15  criminals were arrested in 15 operations carried out in the Southern Province. Meanwhile, four people died during the arrests. The Police STF stated they seized a stock of weapons including 23 swords and knives, 29 T-56 firearms, 11 magazines and 400 ammunition including 187 T-56 ammunition. In addition, the STF stated that drugs including Heroin, Ganja, and Ice drugs were also recovered.
