After the said report was published, the President's Media Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Cabinet Secretary issued statements to claim the report was false. A media release from the Indian Prime Ministers Officers referred to the report as malicious. On Wednesday, the Hindu Correspondent made the following comment at the Cabinet Media Briefing when the matter was raised. She noted that she spoke to 4 ministers to fact check on President Maithripala Sirisena's alleged statement. When questioned to clarify who these ministers are Meera Shiral stated that the ministers belong to a rainbow coloured party. It is ambiguous as to who gave statements to the Hindu journalist, however, they do belong to the 'rainbow coloured political party. Our Sri Lanka Correspondent verified what she had learnt with multiple independent sources before publishing her report. Let them issue their lame denials, try to wriggle out of what was said — but we stand by our Correspondent’s meticulously fact-checked story. https://t.co/b0V201Y3el
