Garbage piling up in Pallegama due to inaction of PS

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Residents of Pallegama, Ampitiya charge that the Gangawata Korale Pradeshiya Sabha is not collecting garbage from the area. 650 families residing in Pallegamacharge that the Pradeshiya Sabha only collects plastic waste which can be easily sold for recycling purposes. However, the Pradeshiya Sabha states that such a situation had arisen due to the absence of an identified garbage dump site. Garbage has been piling up at various locations due to the actions of the pradeshiya sabah. A tense situation occurred on Sunday (Sept 16) when the chairman of the Gangawata Korale Pradeshiya Sabha arrived in the Pahalegama area to inquire into the situation. He promised to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
