Temple trees accepting bookings for events

Colombo (News1st) -  Ever since Parliamentarian Chathura Senaratne, son of Minister Rajitha Senaratne, got married at Temple trees there has been a lot of buzz regarding the venue being used for events. Luckily, Deputy Minister Nalin Bandara stepped in to clarify the details. Addressing a media briefing at Sirikotha on Tuesday (Sept 4), the Deputy Minister revealed that MP Chathura Senaratne paid a total of Rs 2.18mn to hold his wedding ceremony at Temple trees. Bandara revealed that this sum was only for the hall, the electricity and the air conditioning. While noting that this was not the first time that such a wedding was held at Temple Trees, Bandara noted that anyone could book the hall for Rs 40,000 an hour. He added that the Government has in no way misused state property. Adiressing the journalists directly, the deputy minister stated that if they want to have their weddings he is certain that the Prime Minister could even provide them with a discount.
