Sri Lanka to take part in international Tsunami drill

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Disaster Management will be conducting Tsunami drills across the island on Wednesday (September 05). Elaborating on the planned drills, Minister of Disaster Management, Duminda Dissanayake stated that this National programme will be held early tomorrow at around 8.30 am. The Minister briefed that the programme will be conducted by countries such as Australia, Indonesia, and India along with Sri Lanka. Minister Dissanayake further noted that tomorrow when India issues the tsunami warning, it will be transmitted to 77 towers. He added that opposition party members are attempting to accuse the government of organizing a Tsunami drill to sabotage their rally but he assured that the specific date was chosen internationally.
